A style guide for writing here
How posts on this blog are written and formatted — headings, lists, quotes, code and images, all in plain Markdown.
Every post on this blog is written in Markdown in the Kominsiare CMS. This one doubles as a reference for everything the format supports.
Voice
Write the way you’d explain something to a smart friend. Short sentences. Concrete examples. No jargon you wouldn’t say out loud.
Headings
Use ## for sections and ### for sub-sections. The post title is already the page’s only top-level heading.
Emphasis and links
Use bold for the one phrase a skimmer must not miss, italics for tone, and descriptive links rather than “click here”.
Lists
- Bullets for things without an order
- Numbers for steps
- Write the draft
- Read it out loud
- Cut a third
Quotes
Say the thing plainly, then stop.
Code
Inline code for names and short snippets, fenced blocks for anything longer:
const post = { title: 'Hello', category: 'blog' };
Images
Use Insert image in the editor. It uploads the picture, resizes it for the web and adds where your cursor is. Replace “Alt text” with a description of what the image shows.
That’s it. When in doubt, keep it simple.
